Kondalilla National Park

Best known for its towering 90m waterfall, Kondalilla National Park has been declared since 1945 and the falls protected as a recreation area as early as 1906. If you explore the steep, but relatively short, loop trail it will be easy to see why.

The distinctive canopy of tall eucalypts merge with lush subtropical rainforest on the sides of the escarpment, valley below and along the waterways, however the rocky outcrops are, in contrast, dominated by dry forest species such as grass trees and casuarinas. The Skene Creek is the life blood of this park; cascading over slabs of granite, under wooden footbridges, filling rockpools great for swimming before dramatically plummeting to the valley below to continue its meandering through the landscape.

Stop and close your eyes for a minute to hear the roaring water, feel the summer rain on your face and enjoy the soft texture of moss on the granite boulders as you brush by on the walk trail. Be sure to visit both the Narrows Lookout and Baroon Lookout to fully appreciate the vista as well as the waterfall.
