Holland Track

The Holland Track is an iconic four-wheel drive adventure route in the south east region of WA. Originally constructed in 1893 by John Holland, the track starts in Hyden and winds its way through the varied scenery of the Great Western Woodlands, ending in the goldfields town of Coolgardie. The track takes about two days to drive and is slow going given the rough condition, particularly after rainfall when it turns into a treacherous mud slide. There are plenty of locations to camp along the way, from open rocky outcrops to secluded groves nestled in the eucalyptus or wattle trees. The night sky is unsurpassed in beauty and if you’re lucky you will also get to spot the local wildlife including malleefowl, many reptiles and woodland birds. The wildflowers are breathtaking and best seen in spring, especially after fire and a good rainfall season.
